‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Movie Faces Backlash for Mocking Jesus

Marvel’s newest superhero film, Deadpool & Wolverine, was released over the weekend, and many moviegoers may suggest it’s aimed more at adults than kids. Though the movie is dubbed as an action-adventure, comedy, and sci-fi/fantasy, it also has an “R” rating, and Christians find the movie’s content to be more offensive than entertaining.

The Christian Post highlights various social media influencers who refer to the film as “a mockery” of Jesus or flat-out “blasphemous.” 

One influencer who goes by MJ said in a video she posted on YouTube that she has always loved Marvel and didn’t think the movie would be especially bad. However, after seeing the film, she concluded, “I have never seen Marvel go this far in mocking Jesus. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen Marvel really mock Jesus [in the past], keeping in mind that a lot of Marvel that I’ve seen, I watched before I became born again in Christ. Now that I’m Christian, if I go back and watch Marvel, I would probably see things that I didn’t before.”

She said she was heartbroken that “during the film, Ryan Reynolds calls himself ‘the messiah,’ he calls himself ‘marvel Jesus’ throughout the film.” Continue reading…
