The popular shoe company Converse, a subsidiary of Nike, has announced its annual “Pride Collection” of sneakers with rainbow and transgender flag themes. Included among its six “faces of pride” for the collection this year is an 11-year-old “drag kid” known as “Desmond is Amazing.”
“What started as a rebellious fight for equality has since grown into a loud, proud assertion of true self-expression. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pride with a glitter-dipped collection of parade-worthy sneakers, including our first-ever trans flag design. Because equal rights are for everyone,” reads the Converse webpage for the collection.
High top and low top chuck shoes include designs with rainbow stripes or dots — and rainbow soles, as well as a new pink, blue and grey shoe that represents the transgender flag.
