Kamala Harris omitted God and the “right to life” when she quoted the Declaration of Independence in a speech Sunday marking the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
The Biden administration leader only mentioned the rights to “liberty and the pursuit of happiness” in her address to a crowd of abortion activists in Tallahassee, Florida. She also insisted that aborting unborn babies for any reason without limits is a “fundamental right.”
“Last June, the United States Supreme Court took away that constitutional right — a fundamental right, a basic freedom from the people of America, from the women of America,” Harris said, referring to the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling that overturned Roe.
Later, she continued: “So we are here together because we collectively believe and know America is a promise … of freedom and liberty — not for some, but for all. A promise we made in the Declaration of Independence that we are each ‘endowed with the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’”
However, Harris omitted several key phrases from the quote. The Declaration of Independence states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Continue reading…
